Sea-kayaking around Salt Spring Island, Canada

- Salt Spring Island is one of the Canadian Gulf Islands, nestling between Vancouver Island
and the mainland of British Columbia in western Canada
- It lies at a similar latitude to the UK and, as such, has a similar climate
- Kayaking around the island has similarities to Anglesey, except that the tide plays less significance (there is only one major tide per day) and the Gulf Islands are covered in trees and mountains
- The scenery is impressive and unspoilt, but the waters are quite busy with small ferry traffic
